How We Choose Your Treatment

Dr. Moosa's principle: Start with the simplest effective treatment. Move to surgery only when it is truly the best option for you.

Accurate imaging and examination come first.

The severity

Only severe damage may need surgery.

Hip Conditions

Osteoarthritis of the Hip

Cartilage in your hip wears away over time. Bone rubs against bone. This causes pain, stiffness, and difficulty walking.

We start with: Medication, physiotherapy, weight management, and sometimes injections.

When these fail: Hip replacement gives excellent, lasting results.

Avascular Necrosis (AVN)

Bone in your hip dies because it loses its blood supply. The joint can collapse without treatment. AVN needs prompt assessment.

Common causes: High-dose steroid medication, previous injury, excessive alcohol use, and certain diseases.

Hip Dysplasia

Some people are born with a shallow hip socket. This causes early arthritis and instability. Treatment ranges from physiotherapy to hip replacement.

Hip Labral Tears

The labrum is a ring of cartilage around your hip socket. Tears cause pain, clicking, and catching in the hip.

Hip Fractures

A broken hip is a medical emergency, especially in older adults. Urgent surgery restores stability and allows early movement.

Knee Conditions

Osteoarthritis of the Knee

Cartilage in your knee wears away. Walking, stairs, and daily activities become painful.

Meniscus Tears

The meniscus is a cartilage cushion in your knee. Tears cause pain, catching, and sometimes locking. Many tears settle with physiotherapy. Some need keyhole surgery.

ACL Injuries

The ACL is a key stabilising ligament in your knee. Tears happen with twisting injuries, often in sport. Treatment depends on your age and activity level.

MCL Injuries

The MCL runs along the inner side of your knee. Most MCL injuries heal well without surgery.

Kneecap Pain (Patellofemoral Pain)

Pain under or around the kneecap. Usually responds well to physiotherapy and activity changes.

Knee Fractures

Fractures of the kneecap or the bones around the knee. Treatment depends on the fracture pattern and displacement.

Trauma and Fractures

Ankle fractures

From simple casting to surgical fixation.

Elbow fractures

Often need surgery to restore joint movement.

Thighbone (femur) fractures

Stabilised with rods or plates

Shoulder and upper arm fractures

Treated based on displacement and your age.

Lower leg (tibia and fibula) fractures

Casting or surgery, depending on the injury.

Wrist fractures

Very common after falls. Cast or surgery.

General Orthopaedic Conditions

Rheumatoid Arthritis

An autoimmune disease that attacks joint linings. Early medical treatment matters most. Joint replacement helps when medication is not enough.

Gout

Crystals form in a joint and cause sudden, severe pain. The big toe and knee are common sites. Gout is managed with medication.

Septic Arthritis (Joint Infection)

A joint infection is an emergency. It needs urgent drainage and antibiotics to protect the joint.

Tendon Injuries

Torn tendons often need surgical repair. Common examples: Achilles tendon, rotator cuff, and quadriceps tendon.

Bursitis and Tendinitis

Inflamed tissue around joints causes pain and swelling. Most cases settle with rest, ice, medication, or an injection.

Sports Injuries

Acute injuries from sport. We treat you and plan a safe return to play.

Non-Surgical Treatments We Use

Before surgery, many conditions improve with:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Anti-inflammatory medication
  • Weight management
  • Activity changes
  • Walking aids and braces
  • Corticosteroid or lubricant injections

Surgical Treatments We Offer

When conservative care is not enough:

  • Hip replacement (primary and revision)
  • Knee replacement (primary and revision)
  • Fracture fixation (plates, screws, rods, external frames)
  • Keyhole (arthroscopic) procedures
  • Tendon and ligament repair
